Had "drinks" with friends on Friday night - first time I've been out since getting pregnant, for obvious reasons.
So happened that Sham was off to Bangkok for a 6 month stint, and we wanted a get together before she left. Ray had a couple bottles that he needed help finishing at Kandi Bar at Clarke Quay so that's where we met. We sat outdoors since I had to avoid smoke and instead of Chivas, I got to sip on overpriced lime and orange juice. It started off quite OK, but gradually as more of the tables around us lit up, I started getting whiffs of smoke. And although it was outdoors, there is a huge plastic "ceiling" over Clarke Quay that pretty much keeps everything in. Started feeling uncomfortable and guilty for subjecting baby to the smoke.
So we proceeded to The Pump Room which is smoke free - the guys were attracted by the promise of freshly brewed beer and I needed some fresh air! When we got to the door, there was no line but bouncer stopped us - said that it was packed and he couldn't let all of us in. Ray told him that he had to let us in, 'cos, pointing at me, "This one needs to sit. She's pregnant." I chimed in, telling the bouncer that this was my "Last fling out" before I give birth. The guy protested saying "But your stomach is so flat!". For good measure, I pulled me dress (I was wearing a baby doll) taut around my stomach to prove to him that I had a belly (and this was while I was dead sober, mind you). Despite his protests, he let us in, hah!!! That must have been the weirdest excuse ever to get into a club?!
Anyways, I also managed to eat a packet of chye tow kway at Kandi bar - Sham ta powed from Newton where she had dinner. Was asked to stop by the waiters of course, but as always I was ready to whip out the "I'm pregnant and need to eat NOW" line!

Oh man, I remember those days where I'd whip out that line to my ex-GM!
My stomach waited for no one.
