+ Ginger, ginger & more ginger - seriously. Ginger in soup, ginger in veggies, ginger in chicken, ginger in fish, even ginger fried rice! to expel "wind". More like gas.
+ Absolutely Nothing cold - so no cold fruits from the fridge, no cold milk, none of my favourite ice lemon tea. NO water. Only red date & longan tea or fried rice tea (literally fry rice and use it to make a tea. Food must be eaten hot. Showers must be hot, hot, hot.
+ Becoming an alcoholic - downing chicken essence made with cups of Martell, DOM, etc.
+ Confinement of a different kind - daily post natal massages ending with me being bound tight with a 12 metre long strip of cloth. I wore it practically 24/7 for 2 weeks in a row - most people can't stand being bound too long but I was comfortable enough to sleep in it. Worked wonders in shrinking my belly - I highly recommend it! I had a lovely massage lady too who comes by every day - she's a certified therapist (not the traditional Malay massage but an essential oil massage) If anyone is looking for a post natal masseuse, I can pass her contact along.
+ Timing my outings - I know it's called confinement, but I can't quite take being in the house all the time. So I've made my presence felt in Orchard, the neighbourhood mall etc. But now everything is done in a rush, no more than 1.5 - 2 hours at a time, which is the timing between feeds.
+ Taking Solace in the neighbourhood mall - visits to the neighbourhood mall, which used to be for our weekly grocery runs have now turned into a sanctuary of sorts. Close enough so that I can maximise my outing times, even a walk in the supermarket is a welcome break!

Hi Dorothy
Hope you are enjoying motherhood, which I have been for the past 10 mths! Like reading your blog, bcos it brings back floods of memories of my preggie time, as well as the struggles during confinement period. Oh yes, I cldnt stand being confined at home for 1 whole mth, so was always making excuses to step out of the house too, and even going to the provision shop downstairs is a great treat to me!
Anyway, congrats and welcome to the club of motherhood!
