More on Eating Solids

She does what I call "Happy Feet" - she taps both feet on the ground while she's being fed in her Bumbo, throughout the entire meal. She only does it while she's eating and it's cute to watch.

She averages 3 oz (6 Tbsp) a feed, but has gone up to 4 oz. So far, we've tried sweet potato, avocado, papaya, apples, spinach (she didn't like!) and broccoli. On top of brown rice cereal.

She will cry if we run out of food and she wants more. Her mouth opens really wide, she arches her back and cries.

She's gotten better at eating - she's very neat now so there's hardly any mess at all. And she can suck her spoon to get every little bit of food off.

Other developments - she likes blowing bubbles with her saliva. She can shriek quite loudly...and her favourite "words" - na-na, nan-nan and da-da. Sadly, no ma-ma. Yet.

Post Swim

After showering post swim, I thought she'd be all tired out, but she actually still managed to play on the Jumperoo! Although she did end up going to bed at 6.30pm instead of her usual 7.30/8pm.

First Swim

10.06.08

Early on, we decided that swimming was a key skill that we wanted Ellis to acquire. So her first enrichment class ever is infant aquatics. Aquaducks offers a complimentary trial lesson, so I signed her up for that.

Off we trooped - Kisu even took the day off so he could accompany her in the pool. This is what happened throughout the lesson.

Just look at that grumpy little face!

Not a happy camper

Only time she was slightly happier was when she got to hold the little yellow donut - for singing along to "The Wheels on the Bus". As usual, it went straight into her mouth. When the time came for her to return it after the song came to an end, she started bawling again.

We honestly think she would have been OK with the water had we not dragged her out shopping just before the lesson - she missed her nap which wasn't a good thing. We were also late so she got unceremoniously chucked into the pool without a chance to test out the water before the lesson proper. We didn't even attempt to rinse her off after the lesson - we just dried her - bunged her into the car and headed straight home. She conked out in the car seat without a sound.

Now I know better - we probably will try Marsden next - it seems to have good feedback for the infant swim classes.
