In my pre-pregnancy state, I declared that when I get pregnant, I would make sure that I take care of myself and (hopefully) be a "yummy mummy". Must be willing to spend, and 'invest' in a nice maternity wardrobe. Must make sure to maintain a good hairstyle and put on makeup to look decent and presentable.
Well, wardrobe wise, the past weeks have been spent in:
+ T-shirts and shorts - my most comfortable attire when lounging at home.
+ My ultra lightweight and cozy Old Navy Ts and gauchos
+ Peasant skirt with elastic waistband
+ Various fitted Ts that still feel comfortable
+ Loose capri pants
I have not worn jeans (my most favouritest clothing item) for the longest time - mainly because all my jeans were pretty tight to begin with, and I find denim too incredibly scratchy and warm these days to wear.
I find that a lot of stuff is "er xing" or a put off. Like thick, scratchy fabrics...anything that looks or feels uncomfortable just makes me shudder. Also, I can't stand to be in anything too tight.
Hair?
Kisu says I look like Susie from Calvin & Hobbes. It looks a bit weird (altho improving as it grows out) cos it's a really stern, sharp blunt bob, and is a little too stick straight cos of the rebonding....but I chose to cut it cos the length was bothering me, too much hair was dropping, etc etc. I feel much better now and it's much easier to manage.

Makeup?
Urgh, makeup. I don't bother anymore unless I really have to. No contacts either. Glasses are best. When I go out, I pray that I don't meet anyone I know (!)

Anyway back to the wedding.
Thankfully, my Mango wrap dress was still able to fit my growing waistline, and it was jersey, soft and comfy. Of course, I had to do the makeup thing, and I even wore heels! Ho ho.., although the next day my butt hurt. Don't know if I was extra exhausted from the high heel workout or what. On that note, yeah, nowadays when I walk too much (which is actually very little, since I'm actually used to walking a whole lot more normally), the next day I wind up with a sore butt! The feeling is like working out too hard in the gym after months of non-exercise. It's so weird!
So, for one day I felt quite like a yummy mummy, and the feeling of making an effort to look decent was quite nice. I certainly hope I can muster up the energy in the coming months to continue trying to look pregnant-chic!
Although, at the end of the day, I have to say I was most pleased to be able to slink back into my grubby T and shorts and lounge on the sofa!
Speaking of maternity wear, hmm.
I've been to a couple of local maternity wear shops and I really can't bring myself to buy anything from these shops. Really, nothing called out to me. Why do I find stuff from foreign brands like Gap Maternity so much more enticing? Is it just marketing and packaging? The stuff just seems to be a little more coherent - there are good basics on which to build a decent maternity wardrobe. The stuff I saw here just seemed to be a mish-mash of random designs - I was kind of wondering if there was any thought put behind the design process.
I mean, it's already hard to build a fully functional and versatile wardrobe in say a couple days or weeks (I don't want to spend excessively - I want stuff that is comfortable, looks smart and can be mixed and matched and used effectively throughout the pregnancy period) and I can't say I found anything useful at the stores that I visited.
So I'm probably going to stick with the regular stores, but just upsize. That's what my friend Evelyn, who's 5 months pregnant did. As far as I know, she doesn't have a single piece of maternity wear in her wardrobe! Thankfully current trends are for voluminous tops and dresses. For bottoms, I probably will buy online. That's unless and until I find a store here that carries decent stuff.

Hi! You can check out my cousin's website for great yummy mummy clothes http://www.maternityexchange.sg/
Hope it helps!
Try 'TopShop Maternity' online. I just saw the Spring range. Def yummy mummy material!
I got 'upsized' Giordano pants (had to shorten the length tho) and wore them up to day of delivery! You can consider that option too? If not, leggings! They're in fashion now and tunic tops!I'm not even pregnant now and I wear these out almost all the time! Comfy!
try united square. was just there & saw a couple of shops (can't remem the shops' names tho, sorry!) that have really stylish maternity wear; soft jersey/cotton blend spaghetti strap & v-neck tops - not your usual ah-soh preggers outfit.
shoes - u can still wear heels of about 2 inches. read somewhere that completely flat shoes are not always good for a pregger.
hey, maybe u can design a working pregger collection for dotted line!
hey deb's shop (maternity exchange) is hving a sale, u can try there.
Hihi,
Try project shop, somehow their stretchy stuff works for me...
thanks for all the recommendations folks. i will check them out - only thing is that i'm so NOT in the mood to shop. going out and shopping is like a big effort to me, altho i know I have to do it very soon!
