Good News I

She's growing well :)

Current estimated weight - 2.7 kgs. She's been growing at about 150 - 200g per week, and I expect her to be somewhere close to 3kg at birth (this is me, not the doc speaking) Perhaps those extra doses of fish oil I've been taking have helped...




Good News II

Her head is engaged!

It's a big relief to me - I have been talking to her and telling her to be a good girl and get into position. I hope to have a natural delivery and chances of this will reduce if she doesn't engage in time. But have not really felt any so called "lightening" though.

Doc tells me that babies usually arrive within 2 weeks of the head being engaged (for 1st time mums). Given that she wasn't yet engaged at my last checkup a week ago, this gives me anything between 7 - 14 days to delivery date. Being given more firm dates has helped calmed my restless state somewhat.

Good News III

My rashes have abated!

Doctor has confirmed them to be PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy - sounds as bad as it looks). I'm so thankful that they were relatively mild and cleared up on their own after about a week - from what I'd read on the internet it usually spreads like wildfire to other parts like the boobs and thighs after initally appearing on the abdomen.

And lastly, I've been told that I have an "irritable" uterus. Apparently my uterus contracts a lot when my doc touches my tummy. But I told her that I don't really feel anything, no cramping or discomfort!

It doesn't sound great (I keep thinking of irritable bowel syndrome) but my doc says this is better than having a "soft" uterus that doesn't contract at all. Now, that would be a problem in labour.
