The Burnt Bun

That's what Kisu calls baby sung - cos she's all baked and good to go but refuses to leave the oven.

Nothing happened over the weekend, despite me hoping that my early morning twinges were the start of labour and visualizing that my cervix was dilating. I kept thinking "This might be it!" and waited for the waves of regular contractions, but ended up falling right back to sleep.

I'm feeling heavier than ever and having pains in my right leg - I think she's pressing on some nerve so the pain has slowly extended from my butt to my thighs to my calves over the last couple days. I'm trying to walk more to speed things up but the leg situation doesn't help.

Well, this will be my last "I'm Still Here" posts as tomorrow marks the start of induction and I will be at the clinic practically the entire day getting my cervix "prepped".

There is still a chance that tonight labour will happen naturally, or even after the prep tomorrow but I'm not particularly hopeful given the way things have been going. Although I thought I wouldn't mind being induced, now faced at the very real prospect of going through it, I realise how un-keen I actually am on the idea.

Decided to just enjoy the last free weekend that we had instead, so we went around checking out some new food places: Arnold's Fried Chicken at City Plaza (which was recommended on Kookii Kooky's blog) and Hediard at Tudor Court. The other good thing: having time to load up on snacks and reading material (magazines and some novels) for the hospital!

Arnold's, a local fast food joint was really quite good - they serve unfrozen, fresh fried chicken with these sinful deep fried buns (ala fried mantou), and have a pretty extensive range of sides. One of my favourites was the coleslaw, crunchy and sweet. Definitely better than KFC. Too bad it's a little out of the way for us, otherwise we will be back more often.

Hediard is a gourmet deli with an attached cafe located at quiet Tudor Court - we had a nice afternoon tea here. The menu looked really good especially the breakfast which I'm pretty keen to try (anything with Pain Au Chocolat and I'm a sucker). I also noticed that it was baby friendly (something that I've started to pay attention to at restaurants I visit) - well they have baby chairs, at least.

Also went back to new favourite haunt, Tanglin Village at Dempsey - we had dinner on Saturday at La Forketta and a nice long chat over drinks and dessert at Barracks. It was really great just being out enjoying coffee with hubby in a nice environment.

Well, like I said, one of our last times for a probably very long time.

I hope to have good news the next time I post!

I like the term 'burnt bun'. heh. My son was induced a week early. I didn't quite appreciate having to be induced either but I guess it was necessary given the odd skipped heartbeat.
