The dear grandparents sent a package for the Baek-Il instead, which contained a hanbok for Ellis, and gold rings for her to wear - but unfortunately the package didn't reach us in time, so we were totally not prepared when the day came round (we were relying on her grandparents to take the lead with what to do for the celebrations). We didn't have the traditional duk, or rice cakes either, which also feature significantly in Baek-Il.
* edit: I just received the hanbok, and it is the prettiest thing I've seen! It's going to be so fun to put Ellis in it and take a ton of pictures! My mum-in-law, knowing that I love Rain, the Korean singer - even included a DVD of him in the package! That was super sweet of her, and I had a good chuckle. I'm in for a treat :)
Well, we made do and dressed Ellis up in jeans instead and headed to Hyang To Gol at Amara hotel for a feast!
What shall we eat, when we have teeth?

The current plan is to do a "re-enactment" of her baek-il once we get our hands on that hanbok!

Happy Baek-Il Ellis!!!
Is this restaurant at The Esplanade? My sisters brought me there for my first proper Korean meal when I went back to Singapore last December.
Hi Dorothy,
You must put up photos of Ellis in her hanbok when it's here. I'm sure she will look totally adorable in it. Can't wait to see the pictures.
