We're on our own now.
No longer having the luxury of a confinement nanny to take care of Ellis' every whim and fancy (excepting feeds, which I naturally am in charge of since she is breastfed), Kisu and I are now in full parenting mode.
So how is it?
Thankfully, the transition was pretty smooth - she didn't cry for Mei-jie after she was gone - we had done a fair even while the nanny was around, so it wasn't as if she was suddenly thrust into unfamiliar hands.
Short of the first night where I woke up about 5 times (I wasn't able to fully figure out what her cries were for), a typical night sees me waking up 3 times for feeds/ nappy changes. Her last night feed is around 11pm, with feeds every 2 1/2 to 3 hourly intervals; the last one approximately at 7am. After that, we prepare her for her bath around 8am and the day begins.
Being sleep deprived is the worst - but other than that, I can honestly say that I love everything else about motherhood - cleaning up pee & poo, feeding, bathing, changing nappies - everything that I do with Ellis makes me happy. I love hearing her little sighs and gurgles, and watching her every little baby expression and movement.
Call me crazy, but I actually want to have another baby - I'm already missing her newborn moments :)

You will do great. And at moments when you don't feel like you're being the best mother in the world, always know you're not alone. I'm really happy for you, dear friend. And I think God has really blessed you & Kisu with a wonderful, beautiful gift that is Ellis...
Look at that chubby-chub-chub face. You've done a wonderful job providing her all the necessary nutrients. Happy New Year!
